WELCOME

The Berkeley Lake Code Updates Project lets the community help revise the city's zoning code and development rules. By getting involved, you can help Berkeley Lake improve its services, protect the environment, and guide future development to maintain the city's reputation for quality.

Georgia Tech
Urban Design Studio

The City of Berkeley Lake is partnering with a graduate design studio from Georgia Tech’s School of City and Regional Planning to explore redevelopment concepts for key sites in the city. The students’ work will help inform upcoming code updates by illustrating how future development could reflect community values and environmental priorities.

In early October 2025, City Administrator Leigh Threadgill and TSW Project Team Member Roxanne Raven attended a sneak-peek presentation to provide feedback before the students share their ideas with the community.
Early concepts include:

  • A Town Center anchored by small-scale commercial and townhomes.

  • A Linear Park connecting residential and recreational areas.

  • Redevelopment opportunities for South Town Center and The Commons at Berkeley Lake focused on green design, walkability, and local businesses.

The final concepts will be shared publicly at the end of the fall 2025 semester.
